What is HAF?

Our Director of Camps is a former Director of Sport in the private school sector, Level 3 Cricket coach, surrey cricket coach, ECB Coach Educator, Phd, MSC and BSC in Sport Science, PGCE Primary, FA Coach, and Qualified in a variety of sports badges. He is passionate about making sports and physical activities inclusive for all children. We ensure that physical activity is fun, and balanced with other key activities throughout the camp days.

At Seren Kids Camps we provide activities designed to educate and provide children with the tools to stay safe in their online lives. 

We also provide multiple opportunities designed to teach children the skills to be creative and apply skills in digital media, programming, robtics, Esports & Construction. 

Technology is advancing, the future of work is steeped in technology, and we want to prepare children to be equipped and safe in their futures.  This is a particularly important opportunity to provide children and families from low income backgrounds in order to address the growing digital divide.

We balance this out with being active and other activities, as a key part of preparing children for digital futures is to ensure they have the knowledge and skills to live balanced healthy lives. 

At Seren Kids we provide all children the option (commercial customers and HAF) to have Hot nutritious meals, and fruit snacks. 

Our meals are designed and prepared by expert chefs on site and served with a salad bar and pudding options too. 

The meals are designed to create a balanced food plate and to meet the nutrition requirements of healthy growing and active children.

Inclusion and Diversity is one of our stronger considerations. 

We want every child in our care to feel safe, included and they are individually valued! 

This includes multicultural inclusion through diverse resources and representation embedded everywhere at camp. Additionally we pride ourselves on being a safe inclusive space for children from different kinds of family units, and for children with SEND. 

At seren kids all of our staff are given some training on SEND, whilst the directors are highly trained and experienced.

Coach Omar has worked with disabled children in sport, and has experience at a SEND school, we hire staff with SEND specialism, and our director Hannah has a son with ADHD and Sensory processing which is why she wanted to ensure that camp was designed to be a friendly space for ALL children!

Whilst at camp all children (HAF and commercial paying) are also given opportunities to have some serious FUN! 

We often bring in third parties to do "wow" activities like inflatable obstacle courses, archery, Esports parties, Judo and more! 

We want to try and give the children opportunities to try as many different fun activities as possible that parents may not otherwise be able to afford. 

Our director Hannah has designed camp to be the vision of what she wished had been available for her own children when they were younger.

We are extremely proud of our staff team at Seren Kids. We hire people based on their empathy, kindness, values, and their experience of working with children, and any specialism they can bring to camp. We believe that if we want children to be polite, respectful and engaged, then staff must model the same. 

We focus on behaviour being viewed as a method of communication, so if there is a child who is very worried, or perhaps struggling in some way, our staff will always focus on professional nurturing relationships and communication with the child , which often produces far better outcomes than the traditional methods you may find at some other camps. 

We do of course also have expectations and standards for behaviour, but we like to look at how we can enable children to reach those standards and expectations.

A testament to this approach is the same children coming back to our camp across the 2 years who initially did not want to step foot in the door because of experiences elsewhere, and actually asking to come back and stay longer!
